Programs

The Denver International Program offers short- and long-term training programs for international professionals who want to gain additional skills and experience. Most participants are mid-career professionals between the ages of 25 and 45. Many come from developing countries and are able to use the skills and contacts gained in Denver to help build the infrastructure of their home communities.

The core program offered by DIP is a four-month internship, usually held in the spring and fall. Other programs may last as little as one week or as long as 18 months.

Core Program
DIP’s core program includes the following:

  • Professional placements in agencies or businesses closely related to the work the participants do in their home countries. Participants and mentor agencies have opportunities to learn new work methods and techniques and to network with professionals from around the world.
  • Opportunities to share. Participants visit Denver-area schools to provide first-hand knowledge of their cultures to students. Each participant also delivers a public "Fireside" presentation about some aspect of his or her country or culture.
  • Opportunities to learn through workshops, courses, staff meetings, in-service training sessions, seminars, and field trips.
  • Home stays of approximately five to six weeks each. Through home stays participants gain unique insights about U.S. society and culture, and host families to learn about other countries and cultures. Home-stays personalize participants' experiences and often build lasting friendships.

If you would like to participate in DIP's core program, please download the core program information packet and application form. Paper copies of these documents are available upon request. Please contact us if you have questions or require additional information.

Global Partners Program
Local businesses or agencies that wish to bring professionals from other countries to work and train in their facilities may participate in DIP’s Global Partners Program. The Denver International Program provides the required paperwork for the J-1 training visa, along with orientation and cultural support for the participant. A fee is required, and the requesting business or agency must pay a monthly tax-free stipend to cover the participant’s living expenses. More information on the Global Partners Program is available at www.cipusa.org.

Theme Programs
Programs of one to three weeks focused on a specific area such as NGO leadership or empowerment of women. Usually all participants are from the same country. Please contact us for additional information.

Special Programs
Occasionally, Denver International Program offers joint programs in conjunction with other agencies. Please contact us for additional information.
