Become A Volunteer

There are many ways you can become a volunteer for Denver International Program (DIP).

Fireside Events
DIP hosts Fireside Events where participants share their experiences and culture with the community.

  • Participant Presentation Support
Assist participants with outlining and preparing their presentations. This includes meeting participants a few times leading up to the event and reviewing their presentation with them.
  • Logistics
Reserve the room, work with the participant on food preparation, set-up/clean-up of Firesides.
  • Host or Hostess
Greet guests as they arrive, manage the registration desk, ask for guest information, hand out programs, accept donations, and answer general questions.

Host Family Committee
The Host Family committee is responsible for recruiting host families, maintaining host family list, matching students with hosts, overseeing host family orientation, and thanking each host family.

Marketing & Development

  • Events Committee
Support DIP with producing the organization’s fundraising events throughout the year. Sub-committees include: Logistics, Programming, Marketing, In-Kind, Sponsorships, and Auction.
  • Communications and PR Committee
Work with the Executive Director in implementing the organization’s communication & marketing plan: newsletters, fireside event marketing, press releases, media relations, etc.

Participant Committee

  • Orientation Committee
Each Program DIP hosts a participant orientation that includes expectation-setting, cultural training, US history and program outline. This committee assists the Executive Director with designing the orientation, scheduling & logistics, and confirming guest speakers.
  • Cultural Events & Activities Committee
Participants partake in several cultural activities throughout their stay such as touring the State Capitol, hiking Rocky Mountain National Park, or visiting a local non-profit. This committee identifes, plans and coordinates these activities, confirms speakers, and arranges tours.

Partnerships
DIP depends on local partnerships within the community to facilitate the program and drive the organization forward. We also partner with organizations and businesses for our Fireside and fundraising events as they can provide presenters, sponsorships, and educational value to the community. We need assistance in identifying, networking, contacting, and developing partners in:

  • Mentor Agencies
Each Participant takes part in professional training(s) with a local business or organization.
  • International Organizations
Collaborate for recruitment, expand our program, and market to other constituencies.
  • Schools & Universities
Work more closely with local schools & universities to provide cross-cultural education.
